The study has important findings regarding the potential of the city's geographically indicated products in terms of gastronomic tourism. In order to convey these results to all relevant tourism stakeholders, it was deemed appropriate to simplified and published as a book. In this book, in which the gastronomic tourism potential of Şanlıurfa is evaluated with both data collected from visitors and stakeholder interviews, and the current situation and main problem areas are determined, suggestions are also presented regarding the city's being called a gastronomy destination within the framework of geographically indicated dishes.

Kayran and Atçı stated in the introductory information of the book that Şanlıurfa, which has hosted many civilizations throughout its approximately 11 thousand-year history, has many cultures and this cultural richness contributes to the formation of the city's unique gastronomic values. Stating that these values are important in terms of tourism potential, the authors informed that the city has nearly 400 food and beverage products reflecting these cultures. Kayran and Atçı stated that 29 of these products were registered with geographical indication in 2019, noting that this situation suggests that the existing gastronomic potential of Şanlıurfa is not sufficiently evaluated. In this context, the authors, who focused on researching the subject, simplified their studies, which became doctoral dissertations, and published them into a book.
