Inspection Method and Times:
First Inspection: If suitable weather conditions are met, it is carried out from March to mid-June, when the colonies removed from wintering are placed in the apiaries where they will spend the production season. It is inspected whether the accommodation place shown to the beekeepers is suitable for producing Ardahan Flower Honey according to the current practices and the conditions specified in the production method.
Based on the findings of the Ardahan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the District Directorate, the accommodation place, the flora status of the region, the land structure, the seasonal status, the adequacy of the hive capacities and the adequacy of the flora capacity of the region to the colony capacity, whether the clean water needs of the bees in the apiaries are met or whether they are close to clean water sources, and whether they are built in a way that does not disrupt their natural structure are inspected. In addition, the Ardahan Governorship inspects whether an accommodation condition suitable for producing Ardahan Flower Honey is provided.
The Ardahan Caucasian Bee Production, Education and Gene Center Directorate inspects the winter losses (dead bees) in the hives with bees that have come out of wintering, the race, performance, health and numerical data of the bees.
Second Inspection: It is carried out in the production period in June-July-August when the colonies develop, swarm and the honey pots are started to be given to the hives, and when honey production is at its most intensive. Controls are made regarding the use of sterile combs, the process of layering the hives, honey milking materials, the control of the packaging material to be filled so that the naturalness of the produced honey is not spoiled, whether the honey is filled properly and whether it is labeled.
Third Inspection: It is carried out at the end of July and in August when the honey harvest is made. Necessary analyses are carried out on the samples taken from the honey harvested by the producers. In the third inspection stage, controls are also carried out to determine the total number of colonies and the yield value per hive and the total honey production on a beekeeper basis. In these controls, the amount of honey on a beekeeper basis is determined and thus, the entry of honey from other regions for commercial purposes is prevented. It is checked whether the wintering preparations are made according to the issues specified in the production method section.
