Before writing took shape and became systematic, in ancient times, people believed they were communicating with God and future generations by drawing many scenes from their lives on rocks. Sometimes, writing and symbols were even considered sacred. In this respect, we can call symbols and rock paintings a "sacred means of communication." Rock paintings, in a sense, reflect humanity's first intellectual efforts. Looking at the geography where existing rock paintings related to Turkish culture are located, it is seen that they are found starting from the area around Lake Baikal, through Buryatia, Southern Siberia, the banks of the Lena River, Khakassia and Tuva, and the Gorno-Altay regions, as well as in Mongolia, Northern China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Eastern Anatolia, Western Anatolia, the Caucasus, the Northern Black Sea region, and the Balkans.
Rock paintings, which give us very important ideas about the ancient periods of Turkish history and the periods when its cultural understanding became distinct, These rock paintings reflect the artistic thought style of the Turks, the connection between the paintings and mythological eras and heroic stories, as well as the perception of the time when they were first created by the Turks. The rock paintings drawn by the Turks mostly show us the connection between humanity, nature, the universe, and God with very fine details.
